Lucia
Light Roast
Ethiopia
Strawberry, Passion Fruit, Peach, Lychee, Milk Chocolate
This light roast from Guji, Ethiopia is what specialty coffee is all about. This heirloom varietal coffee is from a single 200 hectare "semi-forested" farm; a forest that has been managed to allow coffee to grow in it. Coffee plants grow alongside other natural forest plants which provide protection from overexposure to the sun and benefits to soil enrichment. This coffee is naturally processed, meaning the beans are fermented with the cherry intact before it is removed. This contributes to a complex and unmistakably unique flavor.
Lucia is defined by a taste of strawberry that arrives loud and proud at the beginning of the sip. Given a bit of exploration through brew methods or tasting, that first impression can evolve into passion fruit, peach, or lychee notes. A reserved hint of milk chocolate is left after clearing the tongue.
Region: Shakiso Woreda, Guji Zone, Oromia

Brewing Tips: As a light roast, we recommend brewing with methods geared towards increasing extraction. This usually means hotter water and/or a finer grind. Cold brew methods should be avoided. We love Lucia as an espresso when prepared using a set-up that allows control over these parameters.
