Airscape Coffee Storage Canister

from $35.00

Coffee storage canister from Airscape with Rail Trail Roasters logo! Keeping our fresh coffee fresh!

We are big fans of the Airscape canisters and have been using ours for years. They work by displacing air from the canister by a plunger-and-valve system. Once the air has been pushed out, the valve can be closed to make the container airtight.

We find this is the perfect way to store coffee for three reasons:

1) Air is the enemy! This container is airtight when the valve is sealed, and it removes headspace before sealing. Headspace, even in an airtight container, leaves oxygen that can oxidize coffee.

2) Super-duper fresh coffee like what you get from RTRoasters will release CO2 quite strong for 2-3 days after roasting. One trick we like is to store the coffee with the plunger down (to remove headspace), but the valve open (handle in the vertical position) to allow CO2 to off-gas during the first few days after roast. Our experience tells us that the CO2 escaping will prevent oxygen from entering during this off-gassing period.

3) Durable, food-safe, restaurant-grade 18/8 stainless steel. The plunger and lid are BPA-free.

Available in 1 pound in matte black and matte white, and 1 kilogram (2.2 pounds) in matte black.
